Collages to Peruse: aka: What I did on My Winter Vacation

Did you know that the word Collage comes from the French word Colle which
means “to paste”.  Artists George Braque and Pablo Picasso glued newspaper
and textural materials onto their painted canvases over 100 years ago.

My compositions are created around my photos and drawings, acrylic and coloured
pencil experiments plus found images and objects.  Each collage contains song lyrics
from a singer-songwriter from my formative years.  As a teenager, I developed a passion
for words and poetry, spending hours listening to my albums and following the words
printed on the back of album covers.  Ah, the wonderful art and words of album covers
from the past; but that is a post in itself.  I  am amazed to find that so many of those
words are engrained in my memory and inspire me to this day.  The words from artists
such as Joni Mitchell, Bruce Cockburn, Leonard Cohen, Carole King and James Taylor
were easily combined with my images.

I am posting my collages here for my friends and family to view.
